It's
true that no duty belt solution will solve every
problem for every law enforcement professional all
the time, it's just that most of today's duty belt
designs, with few exceptions, solve fewer problems
than they should.
But
it's not entirely the fault of duty belt designers
and manufacturers. On one hand, the accessories
that officers are asked to carry are more and heavier
than they used to be. Too often the manufacturer's
customers and the manufacturer's end-users are not
always the same. Officers may be the end-users and
decision-influencers, but they're not always the
final decision-makers.

Law
enforcement management must accept a role, along
with the officer, in remedying pain caused by poorly
designed and engineered duty belts. Some of the
most commonly cited points of pain attributable
to duty belt and duty belt accessories can be fully
or largely remedied with Duckbill gear and a management
endorsed strategic approach to turning daily and
incremental control of pain and discomfort over
to the officer.
